Language support
Language availability depends on the selected translation model.
Tilde MT provides the following model types:
- General - Standard NMT model
- TildeOpen - Tilde’s proprietary LLM model (recommended)
- General AI - GPT-based model
- Custom - Client-specific NMT models
Each model has different language coverage and capabilities.
- Feature support (for example glossary enforcement) may differ between NMT and LLM models.
- Image and scanned PDF translation uses OCR; OCR language availability differs from translation model coverage.
TildeOpen (Recommended) ⭐
TildeOpen is Tilde’s proprietary large language model and the preferred option for high-quality multilingual translation.
It supports translation between the following languages in all directions:
bg, cs, de, en, et, fi, fr, hu, is, it, lt, lv, nl, pl, pt, ro, ru, sk, sl, es, sr, sv, tr, uk, sq, bs, hr, da, ga, mk, mt, me, no
Each language can be used as both source and target.

General (NMT)
General is the standard neural machine translation (NMT) model.
It supports translation between the following languages in all directions:

Custom models are client-specific NMT models trained or configured for a particular organization. Language directions depend on the deployed model

Image and PDF translation
Image and scanned PDF translation uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to extract text before translation.
OCR supports the following languages:
