What is a virtual assistant?

A virtual assistant (also referred to as - a chatbot) is a computer program that creates a dialogue between a person and a computer, executing human orders and acquiring and presenting data.

When creating a virtual assistant, companies invest time in training and creating a knowledge base. It's crucial to develop the personality of a virtual assistant: the visual image – gender, age, look, style, signs of character, language, and the tone of voice.

Virtual assistants are widely used in user support and customer service areas, reducing employee workloads and offering users answers to questions on any day of the week and at any time of day. When putting such technologies into companies, their customers are more efficient because the virtual assistant is more responsive than the person, while talking with many people can take place, so users can get the answer they need right away, don't need to wait long for an answer in e-mail, stay on the phone while the service professional will stop talking to another customer, or stand on the line at reference specialist.
