The platform provides tools for automatic anonymisation and pseudonymisation of textual data. It allows users to process and mask sensitive information in documents to comply with privacy regulations like GDPR.
What file formats are supported?
Tilde Anonymise currently supports .txt, .doc and .docx file formats.
What languages are supported?
The platform supports documents written in English, Latvian, Lithuanian, and Estonian.
Are there any limitations to the file size or word count?
The free version is limited to 1MB file size and 1250 words per file.
The full version available for registered users supports file size up to 50MB and 100,000 words per file.
What is the difference between anonymisation and pseudonymisation?
- Anonymisation removes identifiable information entirely, making it impossible to link data back to an individual.
- Pseudonymisation replaces identifiable information with pseudonyms.
How does the automatic anonymisation process work?
The platform uses advanced algorithms to identify and mask personal information, such as names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses. View data categories and information types in the table.
Can I review and adjust the anonymisation results?
Yes. The platform includes an online editor where you can:
- Change the masking method (asterisks, category names, pseudonyms).
- Select specific data categories to mask.
- Remove incorrect masking.
- Identify and add items missed by the automatic process.
Can I customise the masking method?
Yes, you can select the masking method for each identified data category replacing text with asterisks, category names or pseudonyms. Automatically generated pseudonyms can be manually replaced with any text or symbols.
Can the platform detect custom sensitive data types?
While the platform has predefined categories, you can manually identify and add items in the online editor to ensure complete coverage.
Are images anonymised?
No, the platform only anonymises textual data. Any sensitive information contained within images will not be processed.
What other information is not anonymised?
In addition to images, the following types of information are not automatically anonymised by the platform:
- Hyperlinks: Links embedded in the text are not anonymised. If they contain sensitive information, they must be reviewed and adjusted manually.
- Metadata: Document metadata, including author names, creation dates, or revision history, is not anonymised. Ensure you manually remove or anonymise this data before sharing the document.
- Non-Text Elements: Information contained in non-textual formats such as scanned documents, handwritten notes, or graphics.
- Embedded Objects: Sensitive data within embedded charts, or objects like Excel sheets may not be processed.
Review your document thoroughly, including metadata and non-textual elements, to ensure comprehensive anonymisation before sharing or publishing.
Are comments in Word documents anonymised?
Yes, comments in Word documents are automatically anonymised. They will appear as regular text in the online editor for further review or adjustment.
